Fireworks may be a staple for family 4th of July celebrations, but the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is urging consumers to only use legal fireworks and to use them safely. This year, CPSC is warning that a large number of deaths associated with fireworks are related to consumers using professional devices. This year's demonstration will feature a graphic reenactment of an actual incident where a man was killed while setting off professional fireworks. At a news conference to be held on the National Mall, CPSC Acting Chairman Nancy Nord leads a federal push to reduce injuries and deaths associated with all fireworks. CPSC releases new injury and death data, and tips for celebrating safely this holiday.
