This is a short video made to honor the memory of Honorary Colonel André Lord of 438 Squadron (now a tactical helicopter unit of the Canadian Forces Air Reserve based at St-Hubert, Quebec). HCol Lord was appointed to this position in 1993 to highlight a brilliant service record with this squadron; having been the only pilot to serve in the same squadron both during the war and later on in peacetime. André was a Typhoon fighter-bomber pilot who flew 76 strike missions during the last years of the war (1944-45); these strike missions were low-level attacks on Nazi installations, convoys, trains and troop movements on the continent. These missions were very hazardous and stressful, because the tree-top flying profile was sure to increase your pucker factor by multiple numbers since everyone with a weapon would fire back at you and combined with close to 400 mph speed didn t garantee a smooth flight. Since there are no airworthy Typhoons anymore, this video was made with Flight Sim 2002. less
